Default 'Aged' parent

Hello,

If applying for aged parent application do both my parents have to meet the aged criteria? My father wants to come to Australia and he is turning 65 soon but my mother is only 55. Would it be better if they made a parent application instead of aged parent. What is the benefit in aged visas.

Any reply would be highly appreciated
Kind regards

Kayne

A parent visa can be applied for inside or outside Australia, but the applicant will not be eligible for a Bridging Visa and must be outside Australia for the grant of the visa.

An aged parent visa must be lodged inside Australia and the applicant will be eligible for a Bridging Visa.

Secondary applicants do not have to be "aged".

Note that both these visa have extremely long processing times. For faster processing you parents would have to apply for a contributory parent or a contributory aged parent visa.
