I am an Australian citizen and my sister’s husband (my brother in law) is currently working into IT sector.


I was looking at an option of applying for 489 visa subclass and wanted to know if I am an eligible sponsor to sponsor my brother-in-low?


Below is the info stated on the DIBP subclass 489 visa:
Sponsor can be your or your partner’s:
· parent or step-parent
· child or step child
· brother or sister (including adoptive or step brother or sister)
· aunt or uncle (including adoptive or step aunt or uncle)
· niece or nephew (including adoptive niece or nephew)
· grandchild or first cousin


Can I please get some expert opinion on this if I am eligible sponsor for 489?

You are the sister of your brother-in-law’s partner, so you could be a sponsor, provided you live in a designated regional area.
