Default Waiting time for contributory parent

Does anyone know how long provisional contributory parent visas are currently taking to be processed?

My parents got their CPV last year. Their timeline was:
Jan 07 applied
Feb 07 acknowledged.
September 07 medicals and PCC
December 07 asked me to do AOS
Jan 08 - THEY HAD REACHED THEIR QUOTA - HAD TO WAIT TIL JULY
July 08 visa granted
OCtober 08 entered Oz.

Times are running at about 12-18 months at the moment

Good Luck and happy to help in any way

I've heard that POPC processing staff numbers have been decimated due to the desparate need of officers on Christmas Island and as a result processing times have trebled overnight. Has anyone else heard this?

I guess parents have always had to wait in a queue (for anything up to 32 years when processing times were at their worst several years ago) so I suppose it makes sense for DIAC to take officers from this area of the immigration program to assess the refugees!

Can you imagine the mess if they took officers from ASPC?

Although to be fair to the ASPC their own mess is so bad, a few missing officers on the Christmas Island FIFO run is unlikely to impact much on their current processing times.

SO

Hi Sofia

Welcome to the forum. Can you not first post your question(s) on the forum? That way you will likely receive a number of responses from migration agents as well as other forum users. This will not only benefit you but others as well who are in a similar situation. Should your enquiry then need particular one-on-one dialogue with an expert this can certainly be provided.

Kind regards
Sheelagh

Dear Sheelagh,
Thank you for your prompt answer. I would like to enquire about the parents visa.My parents are 59 and 62 years old and we would like to bring them to Australia. My sister is a permanent resident so she can sponsor them.I wanted to ask which visa is suitable for them and how long they have to wait.I checked the immi website, but I am not clear about many things. And also how much does it cost?If we start the process we also need an agent and we want to be clear how much does it cost all together.
I know it is a lot of question, that is the reason why I wanted to ask private.Sorry about it.
Thanks in advance.
Sofia

Sofia, feel free to contact me privately and I can explain the process and costs involved. There are too many personal questions involved to post it on an open forum.

Nick
