Default Breakdown in relationship

Hello,

I'm seeking some advice as to what my options are and the correct avenues involving my situation..

Well.. My exwife was granted her permanent visa a few months ago and our relationship broke down a few weeks later after it was granted. We had been going through rough patches and trying to work on things in our relationship before the permanent visa was granted and I was sponsoring. I now believe she was telling me things that I wanted to hear to continue the relationship until her permanent residency was granted. I've since found out she has moved in with another man and in a relationship. I'm basically trying to find out what process I have to do regarding immigration and if in actual fact she was playing me for a fool.. But I guess we all live and learn.
Any help would be great.
Thanks Jimmy

It is a bit sad to see all these posts about broken down relationships. In your case, your ex now has PR. Case closed, unless the visa was obtained fraudulently.

But doesn't the PR have an expiry date? in which case, if they are separated already, will she be able to renew?

Permanent residence is just that: PERMANENT. The actual visa does not expire, so she can stay in Australia indefinitely on that visa. The only thing that expires is the travel facility, which is usually valid for 5 years (resident return visa) and which can be renewed regardless of what happened to the relationship as long as the residency requirements are met. She could also apply for Australian citizenship when she meets the requirements.
