Default GSM changes Part 1 - new skills assessments for some and other surprises

Changes to General Skilled Migration in respect of skills assessments and work experience will commence on 1 January 2010 including requiring;

1. Applicants for Subclass 885, 886 and 487 visas to have obtained a skills assessment at the time of application ( rather than just having applied for a skills assessment).
This change does not affect subclass 485 visa applicants

2. Certain onshore GSM applicants to obtain new skills assessments.

3. Offshore applicants in certain trade occupations (not yet specified) to have worked for 12 of the 24 months before the application in the nominated skilled occupation and not just in any skilled occupation.
