176 family sponsored - Category 5

Hi Folks,

I was trying to figure out if any one in the forum had an idea on processing timelines for category 5, 176 applicants. After speaking to a few friends, i realized that there are many others who belong to this group.

I had submitted my application in early June 2009 and subsequently, am now being told of the delays. I am trying to find some clarity around when (if at all) would immigration actually get around to processing this category of applicants. It sure would help to know if need to make alternate plans. Do i have any opportunity for recourse? is any one accountable (immigration, the minister, the prime minster, the Queen?) for not keeping me informed of a realistic timeline to a service which i subscribed to?

Counting, 3 years, 9 months.. seems to me that i may have gotten in much sooner if i had just joined the 'boat people'.

Any advice/insight would be much appreciated.
