CHEF Skills assessment for independent skills visa

Hi there, my name is Luca and I hold an Italian passport.
Currently I work as a chef for over 4 years here in Australia.
I got my skills recognized through RPL and now i have certificate 3 and 4 in commercial cookery.
I am also studying a 2 years diploma in travel and tourism which i will complete at the beginning of August 2016.
I simulate a skills points test and I should score 65 points.
My question is:
Do i need to get my skills recognized from TRA even if I got the certifications through RPL?
In case i would have to undergo a skills assessment what documents should I submit to be assessed as a chef?

Thanks in advance

Luca

It would depend on which visa you would apply for. For skilled and permanent employer sponsored visas, you will generally need a full skills assessment. For the documentation required, check the TRA web site.

I m trying to decide if to apply for visa 190 or 187 through a sponsor in Cairns or Perth.
At the moment i got a job offer in Cairns but I am trying to understand how much would it cost as well

Hi Nvoorst,

i called TRA for my skills assessment as a cook/chef and basically they told me that I will not get a positive assessment neither as a cook or chef because I don't have 6 years of full time employment to prove.
I am desperate now because I don't know what to do to get this 187 sponsorship.
I found potentially an employer in Cairns but even if he is willing to sponsor me for 187 visa I will not get a positive skills assessment. What other option could i possibly consider?

I have a partner which is a child care worker. Can she apply for it eventually?

Thanks in advance

Luca

Are you on a student visa at the moment?

Yes I am...and it will be expired in october this year.

Can you send me your email address? That's easier than discussing things further on a public forum.

sure.
