496 to 887.

I have arrived here in melb on a 496 on 1.1.2009 and will meet the eligibility criteria for 887 by DEc2010.
1> How long does it take for the 887 to be granted ?
2> I have been residing in sharing accomodation and have never been the primary lease holder.How do i provide proof of residence in victoria?

1)The last time I did a 887 it only took a few months.
2)Rent receipts, driver's licence, bills with local address, library card, bank and credit card statements showing withdrawals,payments in local shops, statuary declarations from employers and roommates,landlord,payslips showing local employer etc.etc.

Thanks Nick. My wifes brother (i.e my brother in law) was her sponsor during the application for the 496. HOwever I will be the main applicant for the 887. Will my brother in laws sponsorship be called for once more??? If yes, can my brother-in-law be defined as my eligible relative ???

Another thing Nick...will I be called for to provide competence in ENGLISH for the 887.Remember,I was the secondary applicant for the 496 and did not undergo the IELTS....However ,I did provide proof of competence in English while being the secondary applicant for the 496....

Yes Nick,I do remember. But one thing struck me. My hubby provided proof of competence in English (not IELTS),but proof of having studied in an English medium for his degree,while applying for the 496. Could this be carried foward to the 887??

If he satisfied the English requirements for the sc. 496, then he does not need to provide evidence again for the sc. 887

Nick,one last enquiry on the health requirements...3 of us undertook detailed medicals while applying for the 496...would another medical be reqd while applying for the 887????...i was reading up the section on re-use of medicals and came across a category #4 of provisional to final PR's who can re-use their medicals...we went thru a detailed medical exam for the 496..blood,HIV,xrays,etc.....

I did one a while ago and no new medicals were required then. There is no need to 'frontload' them. If they want new medicals, they'll let you know.

I don't know any in Melbourne, maybe some of the other agents on this forum can recommend someone. Alternatively, I'll be happy to help, even though I am not Melbourne based. I do have experience with this type of visa.

Hello Nick, i dont plan to go ahead with the medicals as of now...i am planning to put in my app in jan 2011....i saythe DRC line for the medicals....it does not insist on me doing the medicals....can i still opt for the DECISION READY CHECKLIST???
