Hi, my partner and I about to lodge our partner application in Zagreb. I am very nervous about whether our application is sufficient. We have all the required content, but when it comes to the evidence of our relationship I am concerned with the lack of joint living. I am Australian and my partner is Croatian.
We have been in a relationship for a little over two years, I visited Croatia is 2008, and then moved here late 2009. Married in Feb of this year and have been living together with in'laws parents since then. We have about ten statutory declarations and witness statements, a few photos from some family events and our wedding video. We are including our car but it only has my partners name on the papers. My plane tickets from when I visited and moved. Some wedding cards and birthday cards and some emails from 2008.
I'm very concerned that we do not have proof of the financial aspects of our relationship or the nature of the household. Even the social context of our relationship. I am wondering whether to include my receipts for my Croatian lessons or my Croatian health insurance?
Our skype records seem to be too large to open without crashing the entire computer. I am at a loss with what to do with this, as it is the communication we maintained over the periods of separation.
I desperatly want to go home, and we dont have much money. Advice would be really appreciated. Should we wait to submit until we have more, or it seems sufficient? If others have experience with applications, what proof did you provide?
Should my partner do the medical exam before we submit or wait for it to be requested?

It sounds to me that you have plenty of evidence. Being married helps as well.

How about a will ? Do you have a superannuation account ? You can name your partner as a beneficiary. You can take out some basic life insurance with each other as the beneficiary. Any joint bank accounts ? Many couples don't have one. Write a stat.dec. or affadavit outlining how you organise your finances and why you don't have joint finances/property.

Including the receipts for language lessons and health insurance is a good idea (need translated copies), as it shows that you are serious enough about your relationship to want to learn your partner's language and having health insurance shows that you were a resident in your parnter's country.

Print out a selection of your Skype sessions covering some of the periods you were not together. For any aspects of the relationship you want to cover, but don't have any evidence for, write it up in an affidavitt or stat. dec.

Make sure your personal statements about your relationship cover a lot of detail about your daily life and your future plans.

If you are really worried about it, wait a bit longer and collect some more evidence.

I don't know how quickly partner visas are processed in Zagreb. If they are fast then it might be a good idea to "front-load" the medical. If not, then it is better to wait until asked.
