Hi everyone,

I currently hold 496 visa and still fulfilling the requirements so that I can apply for 887 visa. I already completed the 2 years stay in designated area. But I am just working partime for 24 hrs a week which 11hrs short from the minimum requirement.
My friend told me that I can still provide the requirement of having 1 year full time work, I just need to calculate the hours required (ie. 35hrs X 52 weeks = 1,820hrs) and it doesn't matter how long it will take me to complete the 1, 820 hrs, in my current situation it would take me more than a year to complete the hours. Is it true? Hope you can give me some advice.

Thanks,

nimfz

There is no restriction on the type of work that you may undertake. You could work for an employer or yourself. The only restriction is that the employment must be both of the following:

full time
undertaken in a Specified Regional Area in Australia.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics defines a 'full time position' as one in which employment is normally for 35 hours a week. You are allowed to work in up to two (2) concurrent part time jobs to meet the one (1) year (35 hours a week) full time work requirement.
