My boyfriend from Nepal has just been refused a tourist visa to visit Australia for 6 weeks due to lack of documents supporting his bank details. He only provided the last bank statement which had $3000 AUD in funds, but only after it got rejected did VFS Global Services (an agency that has an agreement with Australia to provide Australian visa services in Nepal) tell us they needed a years worth of statement. Is this true?

However, I was sponsoring him completely (I am British, but a permanent resident in Australia) and provided a letter indicating this intent. I provided the last 3 months of my bank details showing I had sufficient funds (over $10k), pay slips and my mortgage details. So I don't really understand why it got rejected since I was the sponsor and it was my funds that are going to support him.

Without giving us the opportunity to provide the additional details, Australian immigration in New Delhi have marked his passport with a red reject stamp and have told him that he can not reapply for a year. Is there anything we can do? I have spoken to immigration this morning in Australia and they inform me there is no such year restriction.

Also now he has been rejected, do you if it will effect any future application for visas in UK/Australia, especially since his passport has been stamped? Please note he has previously had a visa to the UK.

Thanks for any help

Hi,
I have the same problem. Did you reapply ? Can you please update us on how to proceed in such a situation ?
