my second question is,

what if DIAC very harsh during the interview, (marriage visa interviews) because of some ''cultural bias'' and other concerns,

do we have right refuse interview at that moment and request another case officer''

Hi realist

The full bench of the Federal court has pronounced that Australia is a multicultural society with cultural pluralism and the application of relevant laws such as the immigration regulations and policy must be sensitive to diverse cultural values.
Secondly, in another Federal court it was ruled that parties at an interview would not be at ease to articulate the inner most feelings about love and marriage to a stranger in an interview setting. For such expressions to take place freely on would take hours and a congenial environment and familiarity with the other person to get the true gist of relationship.

One good tactic during an interview, if it is seen as abrasive, biased, or threatening, you can straight away ask for a copy of the interview tape. This will alert the case officer to perk up. If you can summon your courage you can request to have it on record that you consider the questions being culturally biased. You can in the end ask for a different interviewer or even use the legitimate strategy to ask for an interpreter of your own language in the middle of the interview saying you are finding it a problem to express your emotions and intimate situations in English lnguage, which is a second language to you.

Placing these concerns on record will alert the officer to be conscious of his shortcomings.
