Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and hope you can help

We applied onshore to Brisbane Immi dept at the end of Sep and received a letter a few days later to confirm receipt of application and payment. But the letter advised processing time is currently 6 months!!

Does anyone know if it's likely to be processed more quickly than that? I'm currently on a 457 visa so am ok to stay in Aus but finding the waiting really stressful!
I sent police checks, medical docs and form 80 with the application so I was hoping for a faster turnaround

Hello Mary,

Welcome to the Forum. I am a Migration agent and have some experience in assisting spouse visas. In your case the advice from the Department, i.e. up to 6 months is the normal indicative time to conclude such an application. However, if your application is "visa ready”, as it appears in this case, it can take a shorter time period, depending on the volume of such cases, "productivity" of the case officer, and the assessment of "genuineness" of your assertions in the application.

I usually empathise and counsel my impatient and/or anxious clients to calm them down and wait it out as nothing ought to foul up the application compiled by an experienced agent. My clients are comforted that I am there to absorb the "further information /clarification" letters. In your case I take it you were confident in applying without an agent. You should not worry too much if all the claims in the application are appropriately evidenced or can be evidenced if called upon.

Thanks for the quick response Robert. I guess I just have to wait and see.
