View Full Version : alternates to a long wait!

Hi Guys,

I was hoping if i can find some input on alternate course of action while waiting for the current processing timelines to happen.

I recently applied (July 09) for the 176 VE visa (ASCO 2291-11) and would like to find out what other avenues could i consider to get into Australia sooner? (The wait, as everyone knows, is killing). Its true how lifes almost on a standstill. Things will be different if only i could make the move to australia now.

I am not sure if companies are keen on hiring people who they have to sponsor. My background is in psychology and i had been working as a Human Resources specialist (this means that i am not on the hot shot skills list). I recently started graduate school in Counselling. Is looking for a potential employer an option? almost all recruiters want people who already have some form of work authorization. Does any one know of organizations that might be willing to help?

Thanks, r

Hi raamnair

Welcome to the Migration Help forum.

There is no easy alternative I am sorry to say.

What I can offer is to send your resume on to a recruitment firm that works with Australian companies who are open to sponsoring persons from overseas via the temporary business visa or 457 visa as it is commonly known (my email address is below).

There is no guarantee you will be successful in landing a position however as Australian employers like employers everywhere are reluctant to hire anyone they have not personally seen and/or interviewed.

Have you checked out the various employment related websites we have included in our employment and job related sub forum? It would be worthwhile going to as many as you can and getting some idea of what sort of jobs in your field are coming on line. The economy certainly in WA is taking off again and if the last boom was anything to go by persons with HR experience were in great demand.

Cheers
Sheelagh

Hi Sheelagh,

Thank you for your reply and offer to hook me up with potential recruiters. I will follow up with an email to you.

I have been looking at the jobs sub link and have to say that it does have allot of very good information.

Thank you so much for creating a service like this. Unrealistic delays to the visa process time lines has been frustrating experience but, your site has been beckon during these difficult times. Pls do keep up with this excellent idea!

God bless you all! :)
