Change Subclass from 573 to 572

Hi,

I am currently studying Diploma which leads to Degree, But after finishing my Diploma (end of Nov 09) I want to apply for T.R or P.R,

Can you tell me is it compulsory for me to change my visa subclass from 573 to 572 ? and if yes then how can I do it??

What is your occupation ?

What is your country assessment level ?

It appears you have possibly 2 or 3 eCOEs if you are enrolled for a Trade course.

You have to continue with your degree course to maintain your student visa.

On what grounds would you able to change from 573 to 572 ?

If you do not continue your studies your student visa will be cancelled and you will be granted a Bridging E visa.

Hi Glen,

Thanks your prompt reply,

My occupation is Baker, I have Bachelors CoE from CQU.

I'm from India and assessment level is 4, I guess.

What I can only think the reason I can give for visa subclass change is that I'm eligible to apply for GSM after finishing my Diploma.

Please advise, I'm really confused and don't want to go on Bridging visa E as I may not have any working rights on that.

Hi Sneha,
This is what the info page of the Immigration says about your options:

Changing courses

If you want to change to a new course at the same level of qualification, you do not need to apply for a new student visa unless your current visa is about to expire.
Changing level of qualification

If you want to change your level of qualification, you will need to apply for a new student visa because your visa subclass will change.
Example: You want to change from a Diploma to a PhD degree.
