View Full Version : Immigration link in doubt

AUSTRALIA'S skilled migration policy is driven by national economic needs, not the educational choices of overseas students, Immigration and Citizenship Minister Chris Evans warned last week.

In a speech in New Delhi that signalled immigration would be decoupled from education, and immigration, Senator Evans stressed that there was "no automatic link" between study in Australia and access to permanent residency.

"The Australian government will adjust the program to meet our national needs and not be driven by the education choices of overseas students," he said. In a possible response to mounting anger among overseas students whose hopes for permanent residency may be denied, Senator Evans said: "The skills and qualifications we seek in migrants will vary over time."

Although most of Senator Evans's speech emphasised the depth of the strategic partnership between Australia and India, he had a sharp warning for unscrupulous education agents.

"Those who seek to market access to a permanent visa in Australia rather than a quality education do a grave disservice to potential students," he said.

Hello Everyone!
I read about this new blog, and I registered.
Unfortunately, my English is very poor, but I try to be an active member.
Maybe it will be good for practice.
I apologize for the mistakes.
So I wish good luck for the new forum.

Hi Chameleon

Go to User CP at top of page. Click on Edit Avatar. And then choose whether you want to upload picture from your computer or from a URL/website.

Animated avatars dont seem to work on this website (which is a shame as there are some excellent free ones out there).

I also think avatars are meant to be a certain 'size'. But the 'border patrol basset hounds' I have used is a standard picture size, so size does not seem to really matter. Dont know enough about it all. Just experiment and see what happens!!

1. Go to User CP at top of page. ok!!

2. Click on Edit Avatar. hupps .... I don't see here "Edit Avatar" only "Edit Profile pictures" and I set it with same picture as in forum of ausztralia.net. I see the picture or picture as avatar on the "Edit Profile pictures " site.

The question is why I see no avatar by my name on the forum.

Can you see Settings & Options in the Control Panel (User CP) (I have copied some of the CP text below)?
This is where you edit your Avatar, signature, email/passwords etc. You may need to click on Settings & Options to expand the selection. If you cant do this you will need help from the administrator to find out what the problem is.
